Temple Emeth Nursery School

Joyful creativity, playfulness, spirited Jewish celebrations, and developmentally appropriate social learning – this is Temple Emeth Nursery School (TENS).

TENS focuses on the development of the whole child. Our children explore, discover, and learn in a nurturing, safe environment, filled with opportunities to participate in imaginative play, arts and crafts, and science and nature activities. Teachers emphasize the values of fair play, independence, self-discipline, and respect, while helping children develop a positive self-image.

Judaism becomes tangible for our children through music, storytelling, and dramatic play. Children enjoy preparing for Shabbat each week, and observe Jewish holidays both in their classrooms and at community-wide Temple celebrations. A monthly Friday evening Tot Shabbat service brings nursery children together with teachers, family members, and Temple Emeth clergy, and is led by our Music Specialist, Julia Priest.

Parent-teacher communication is essential to the success of nursery school. Parents are encouraged to be involved in our classrooms. In addition to twice yearly parent-teacher conferences, teachers and staff are available on an as-needed informal basis. Parent workshops are offered prior to holidays, and include discussion of how to enhance holiday celebrations at home.

TENS Summer Program

The learning and fun continue in the summer, as TENS offers two three-week long summer sessions. Preschool Summer (age requirement 2.9 years) meets Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Time for Tots (age requirement 2.0 years) meets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Our part-time summer program in a safe, happy atmosphere can be the perfect choice for a child not yet ready for a full day of camp, or an ideal opportunity for newcomers to become familiar with our staff and facility.
