Makor Emeth – Grades 6 & 7

Temple Emeth has adopted the Makor initiative – an innovative, exciting, and flexible program designed by Hebrew College - to address the needs of religious school students in grades 6 and 7. Hebrew College developed Makor as an extension of its highly successful curriculum at its Prozdor high school.

Our students attend Hebrew College on Sunday mornings, taking Hebrew language and choosing from a variety of electives, in addition to a year-long core class: Grade 6 – Jewish Life Cycle, Grade 7 – Jewish Personalities Throughout the Ages. On Tuesday afternoons the program is held at Temple Emeth, where classes are taught by Prozdor staff as well as Temple Emeth clergy and faculty.

Students also take part in experiential learning activities – Shabbat programming and day trips or overnight excursions to places of Jewish significance – to reinforce a connection to their Jewish heritage and deepen relationships with peers and teachers.
