Magen David Adom - the Red Star of David – is Israel’s only first aid and disaster relief organization. First established in 1929, it operates according to the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and today provides for the entire nation’s pre-hospital emergency needs, including medical, disaster, ambulance and blood services.

In 2002 Temple Emeth made a major contribution to MDA’s mission, thanks to an effort spearheaded by esteemed member Shirley Gray, when we raised the funds to purchase an ambulance and related medical supplies. There was a dedication at our annual Mitzvah Day, where congregants were able to see and tour the ambulance before it was shipped to Israel. Our ambulance serves the needs of residents in Jerusalem and nearby communities.
