Annual Sugihara Memorial Concert
Temple Emeth and the Japanese community of Boston hold an annual concert to celebrate the courage of diplomat Chiune "Sempo" Sugihara.
Our own member Samuil Manski was saved by this great man.
Temple Emeth hosts the concert under the auspices of the Consulate General of Israel and the Consulate General of Japan.
This year, the Sugihara Memorial Committee (a collaboration between Temple Emeth and the Japanese community)
organized a wonderful concert of synthesizer, soprano, choir, and cantor.
- Ms. Hisako Ikeda, from Kyoto, Japan, sings both Japanese traditional songs and opera.
- Mr. Isaku Fujita, from Fukuyama, Japan, has lived in Israel for eight years, composing original symphonic works on his synthesizer.
- Chorus Boston is the choir of the Japanese community in Boston, directed by Sadao Suzuki.
- Shirai Emet is the Temple Emeth choir, directed by Gennady Konnikov.
- Cantor Rosember is Temple Emeth's hazzan.
