Nursery School: Our Philosophy
The purpose of Temple Emeth Nursery School is to provide a program that focuses on the development of the whole child. Each classroom creates a nurturing and secure environment which stimulates exploration, discovery, and learning. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere which fosters the development of a good self-image and a wholesome attitude. The teachers at Temple Emeth emphasize the values of fair play, independence, and self-discipline while instilling self-respect and respect for others.
Judaism is a way of life at Temple Emeth. As each tradition and holiday is introduced, children enjoy the opportunity to participate in the warmth and beauty of the ritual and the celebration. Children experience the sights, the smells, the customs, and the ceremonies first hand. Being in the Synagogue adds a very special flavor.
In the Nursery School we consider ourselves in partnership with parents. We feel privileged to have the responsibility and the pleasure of sharing and caring for your child. Our commitment is two-fold: first, to your youngsters social, emotional and developmental growth, and second, to you as you enter these important, formative years in your child's life.
Our nursery school program is unique in that it has consistently achieved national accrediation from NAEYC, the National Association for Educators of Young Children.
Classes
Temple Emeth Nursery School hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon. An extended day program operates for our three and four year olds on Monday through Thursday, Noon to 3 p.m., as dictated by the needs and desires of our families.
September Toddlers
- AGE REQUIREMENTS: 2 years as of September 1
- TWO DAY PROGRAM: Tuesday/Thursday
- THREE DAY PROGRAM: Monday/Wednesday/Friday
- HOURS: 9:00 a.m. to Noon
Toddlers are very special people and require very special care ... as do toddler parents. Our expert staff concentrates its efforts on easing toddler families through a successful separation process. This is done by creating an atmosphere of warmth and safety for all and treating everyone with gentleness and understanding.
Toddlers "work" is play; therefore, much of their time is spent in carefully designed and supervised play. Patiently helping toddlers to take turns, to share, and to express their needs is our goal. Our "curriculum" is to build individual people, inch by inch.
January Toddlers
- AGE REQUIREMENTS: 2 years as of January 1
- TWO DAY PROGRAM: Tuesday/Thursday
- THREE DAY PROGRAM: Monday/Wednesday/Friday
- HOURS: 9:00 a.m. to Noon
The goals and philosophy of the January Toddler program are consistent with those of the September Toddler program. The class that begins in January is specifically designed for children born between September 1 and December 3 1. The addition of a new group is welcome and beneficial not only to the incoming toddlers but to the whole nursery school as well.
Three Year Olds
- AGE REQUIREMENTS: 2.8 years as of September 1
- THREE DAY PROGRAM: Monday/Wednesday/Friday
- FIVE DAY PROGRAM: Monday through Friday
- HOURS: 9:00 a.m. to Noon, Extended Day: Noon to 3 p.m.
The program for 3 year old children is designed to provide an atmosphere that encourages social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth and development of the child. The curriculum includes large group time, small group experiences, creative art activities, cooking, science and nature, stories and songs, games and large muscle activities. We embrace every opportunity that existing in Temple Emeth has to offer. We experience the Jewish holidays, we celebrate the Sabbath, we live a Jewish life.
Four Year Olds
- AGE REQUIREMENTS: 3.8 years as of September 1
- FIVE DAY PROGRAM: Monday through Friday
- HOURS: 9:00 a.m. to Noon, Extended Day: Noon to 3 p.m.
The Temple Emeth preschool program for four year olds builds upon the foundation laid in the previous years and provides even greater opportunities to stimulate a child's intellectual curiosity, feelings of self-esteem, independence and competence for a successful transition into kindergarten, both in grade school and Temple Emeth Religious School.

Programs
Afternoon Enrichment Program
Temple Emeth Nursery School offers an extended program four days a week, Monday through Thursday. The afternoon session is Noon to 3:00 p.m. and is offered to 3 day and 5 day children. This program is not available to toddlers.
Under the supervision of a.m. teachers, the program is an extension of the morning but at a different pace. After lunch and a period of rest, an afternoon of low key activity is planned, including free play, art fun, story time, music and playground.
We offer children a supervised afternoon of relaxed play in the security of familiar surroundings. We offer the parents the peace of mind that comes with knowing their child is comfortable, safe, and having a wonderful time.
Lunch Program
The lunch program is an abbreviated version of the afternoon enrichment schedule. Children enjoy an extended period of play and socialization, after which they have lunch with their friends. The lunch program ends at 1:30 p.m. Reservations must be made in advance through the school office.
Temple Emeth Nursery Playcamp Program
Temple Emeth Nursery PlayCamp is based on the same principles and philosophy as our fine nursery school. We are a child centered program. Our goals, our environment, and our activities are all carefully designed to promote optimum physical, social and emotional growth in the pre-school age child.
Daily activities include arts and crafts, music, stories, play and water fun in a relaxed and safe environment under the gentle guidance of experienced pre-school professionals.
Temple Emeth PlayCamp is scheduled for 6 weeks each summer. Camp meets five days a week between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1 p.m. We supply a daily snack. You need to provide your child with a Kosher dairy lunch, a swimsuit and towel.
The day is designed with your child in mind ... a relaxed summertime pace with lots of children and lots of fun.
Perachim - Tot Prayer Services
Temple Emeth is proud to offer a service specifically designed for Nursery school aged children. Perachim Services are held on High Holidays and Shabbat mornings during the school year. This age appropriate interactive service is very popular with our young families.
